Hamilton, ON, Canada (Sept. 18, 2025) – GEI Canada has launched a new group offering electrical engineering, instrumentation and control (I&C) design, and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) integration services as part of its Civil practice. The team supports the delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Two senior electrical and instrumentation professionals have joined GEI Consultants to lead this service line:

Slawek (Swav) Wolski, C.Tech. – a strategic technologist with more than 19 years of experience in the field of electrical control design, SCADA, instrumentation and automation, and industrial networking, Swav will lead the electrical and I&C group. His expertise also includes developing process control narratives (PCNs), executing factory and site acceptance testing (FAT/SAT), and delivering SCADA operator training. Swav obtained his Electrical Engineering Technology certificate from Mohawk College in Hamilton.

“It has long been a goal of mine to work alongside such a talented group of people and to be able to offer all services under one roof,” says Swav. “By adding electrical and SCADA design and programming to GEI’s already strong civil and process expertise, we can now deliver truly integrated, practical solutions to our clients.”

Savas Sarsu, P.Eng. – a senior electrical engineer with more than 17 years of experience in electrical, instrumentation, and control system design and commissioning, Savas will lead electrical design and analysis. He possesses a strong technical foundation in power systems and electrical distribution equipment, with comprehensive knowledge of regulatory standards. Savas is highly skilled in performing advanced electrical system studies, and his expertise includes electrical engineering services, such as detailed electrical and I&C design, preparation of technical drawings and specifications, FAT/SAT support, and field commissioning. Savas obtained an electrical engineering degree from Queen’s University and a bachelor’s degree in economics from York University.

“It is humbling and exciting to be part of this newly created group,” says Savas. “Having the capability to offer all required engineering services in house for water/wastewater projects will be a great value to GEI’s already well-established client base.”

“We are excited to launch a new electrical and I&C group to support the Civil practice at GEI,” says Rafiq Qutub, P.Eng., Civil Practice Lead at GEI Canada. “Historically, we received electrical and instrumentation design services through specialty subconsultants. Now that we have Swav and Savas on board, we can offer electrical, I&C, and SCADA integration services ourselves and look to build this team into the future. This improves integration with other engineering disciplines at GEI and adds greater value for our clients.”
